## Weapon System Overview

Mortal Shell II features 14 weapons across 6 categories. Every weapon can be upgraded at the Blazing Forge using Embers , up to +10. At +5, each weapon unlocks its second skill (special attack). Each weapon has two skill slots, unlocked by defeating specific enemies or collecting skill scrolls.
Weapon choice fundamentally shapes your playstyle — heavy weapons hit hard but are slow; light weapons are agile but require more hits. Each Shell's stamina pool determines how many attacks you can chain.

## Straight Swords

The most balanced weapon type — fast attacks, moderate stamina cost, maximum adaptability. Suits every Shell. The best choice for beginners.

### Hollowed Sword

Location: Default weapon. Automatically obtained from the weapon rack in Fallgrim Central.
Skills: 1. Mechanical Thrust — quick stab followed by backstep; 2. Soul Echo — small AoE soul explosion on hit.
Verdict: The do-everything sword. Viable from start to finish. The stamina regen at +10 is invaluable in endurance fights. If this is your first playthrough, you can't go wrong with this.

### Hallowed Sword

Location: Frozen Sanctum lower level. Unlock the Sanctum secret passage (requires "Holy Key" from the elite guard on the second floor). Chest is in the prayer room at the end of the passage.
Skills: 1. Holy Slash — releases a forward light wave; 2. Purge — dispels status effects with brief invincibility.
Verdict: Undead destroyer. The Abyssal Rift and Crypt are full of undead — this sword shreds them. Underwhelming elsewhere. Use as a secondary weapon.

### Molten Blade

Location: Automatically obtained after defeating Imrod (Blazing Forge boss).
Skills: 1. Firestorm — spin attack releasing flames; 2. Lava Slash — strikes ground creating a lava fissure.
Verdict: High-damage straight sword. The fire enchantment destroys ice enemies (Tarsus). Stamina cost is on the higher side.

## Greatswords

Greatswords deliver massive damage with strong stagger. Tradeoff: slow speed and extreme stamina cost. Best with power-focused Shells (Eredrim).

### Martyr's Blade

Location: Dropped by Crucix (Crypt of the Damned boss).
Skills: 1. Earthshatter — slams ground for a forward shockwave; 2. Frost Enchant — temporarily imbues with ice damage.
Verdict: If you love one-shotting enemies, this is your weapon. The charged heavy knockback gives you breathing room against groups. The slow speed demands mastery of Harden timing.

### Smoldering Mace

Location: Hidden room in the Blazing Forge — destructible crack in the left wall of the Forge Hall. Defeat the Flame Knight inside.
Verdict: Highest single-hit damage in the game. The ultimate anti-armor weapon. Also the slowest weapon period — demands extreme patience and perfect Harden reads.

### Abyssal Greatsword

Location: Abyssal Rift hidden area — before The Unchained's boss room, take the branching path to the "Shadow Corridor." Defeat the hidden boss "Abyssal Knight." Requires the "Shadow Key" (found on the top floor of the Watcher's Spire).
Skills: 1. Shadow Rush — teleport behind target and attack; 2. Abyssal Vortex — creates a shadow vortex that pulls enemies in.
Verdict: The ultimate late-game greatsword. Lifesteal + Harrow Shell makes you nearly unkillable. Acquiring it is a serious challenge — you must deviate from the main path and the hidden boss is no joke.

## Scythes

Scythes specialize in wide-area attacks and AoE damage. Great for dense enemy packs and large bosses where you can multi-hit.

### Reaper's Scythe

Location: Chest in the Watcher's Spire mid-levels. Third floor, small room off the spiral staircase.
Skills: 1. Spinning Reap — 360° spin attack; 2. Soul Harvest — massive heal on enemy kill.
Verdict: The ultimate mob-clearing weapon. Wide sweeps let you control groups effortlessly. Also solid against large bosses with multiple hitboxes.

### Blood Moon Scythe

Location: Complete the "Crimson Priestess" NPC questline. Speak with her in Fallgrim, Crypt of the Damned, and Frozen Sanctum, then fulfill her request at the Abyssal Rift entrance.
Verdict: Bleed specialist. Devastating against high-HP bosses (bleed does percentage-based damage). Near-useless against bleed-immune undead — remember to switch.

## Polearms

### Obsidian Spear

Location: Fallgrim swamp — impaled on a corpse in the mud. Look near the dead tree at the swamp's center.
Verdict: The safe weapon. Poke enemies from outside their attack range. Ideal for players who dislike close-quarters combat. Downside: single-target only.

### Dragonslayer Halberd

Location: Ice Dragon Lair — deepest optional area of the Frozen Sanctum. Defeat the Frost Wyrm (not a boss but very strong). Located past Tarsus's boss room.
Verdict: Large enemy destroyer. High stagger lets you knock down bosses more often. Excellent against Tarsus and Imrod.

## Staves

### Ember's Staff

Location: Hidden room in the Blazing Forge — on the bookshelf in the upper forge hall.
Skills: 1. Fireball — homing fire projectile; 2. Wall of Flame — creates a fire wall in front of you.
Verdict: The safest playstyle in the game — ranged kiting. Lower DPS than melee weapons, and "mana" for spells converts from stamina. Suits patient players.

### Frostweaver Staff

Location: Top of the Mage Tower in the Frozen Sanctum. Defeat the Frost Mage at the summit to claim it.
Verdict: Control staff. Slowing enemies gives you more reaction time. Extremely effective against fast bosses like Corvid.

## Dual-Wield Weapons

### Shadow Daggers

Location: Dropped by Corvid (Watcher's Spire boss).
Skills: 1. Shadowstep — brief invisibility and dash to target; 2. Lethal Flurry — rapid multi-hit thrust combo.
Verdict: Fastest attack speed, lowest stamina cost. Tiel Shell + Shadow Daggers = highest DPS combination in the game. Downside: short range, must get close.

### Berserker Twin Axes

Location: Abyssal Rift "Berserker Trial" — a fully optional challenge room. Survive 3 waves of enemies and claim the axes from the altar.
Skills: 1. Berserker's Rage — massively boosts attack speed and damage for a short time (take +50% damage); 2. Whirlwind — spinning dual-axe attack on all surrounding enemies.
Verdict: High risk, high reward. Devastating damage at full stacks. If you lose your combo, damage drops to nothing. For veterans who know enemy patterns inside out.
