# Harden | Mortal Shell 2

Harden is an Ability in Mortal Shell 2 . Harden turns the Harbinger or the active shell into stone, avoiding the next damage instance. When timed perfectly, you can execute a Perfect Harden, which fills up the enemy's Break meter for a chance to Riposte.

### Harden Ability General Information Mortal Shell 2

- Harden is an ability that petrifies the Harbinger or the equipped shell to avoid damage from the incoming attack. This ability has an instant animation before turning to stone, and the full duration can last for about 3 seconds. When Harden is timed perfectly, you can fill up the enemy's Break meter with a Perfect Harden.
- Casting this ability has an independent cooldown.

### How to Unlock Harden in Mortal Shell 2

- Harden is acquired by equipping Vatra's Seal.
- You can get Vatra's Seal by defeating Tar Golem.

- Harden works hand-in-hand with Harros the Vassal's Stone Stun . It allows Harros to build up the Break meter by using the Stone Stun on enemies. While the ability is on cooldown, you can try to execute Perfect Harden to build up the Break meter. Once the break meter is full, the player can execute a Riposte.
- Dealing enough damage to fill the Break meter will let you do a Riposte, which is a finisher move that can deal devastating damage, or powerful enough to finish them off.
- To execute a Perfect Harden, equip the Vatra's Seal and press ALT (L1) Guard right before the enemy's attack lands.
