## How to Unlock All Islands

For every island that you want to unlock in How to Fish, you'll need to complete a quest to add it to your radar and be able to make it there on your boat. The first island you start out on is where you begin and learn the basics of the game. You need to complete things here to unlock the second island.

### Island 1 Guide: How to Unlock the Second Island

When you shipwreck in the starting area, you'll be stranded on a small island with a single lighthouse and a man sitting on a bench. You can speak with the man to learn the basics of How to Fish, as you go through unlocking the Crab-Fishing Rod, and catching your first series of fish.
The man tells you of a long-legged creature that has been bothering him on this island. This creature, the Spider Crab, is the boss that you need to catch and defeat to open up the rest of the game, as the man is willing to give you his Boat Keys if you can complete this task for him.
You'll need to gather enough money to challenge the Spider Crab. To properly prepare yourself, you'll want to unlock the Knife, which costs $45, and then give the man a Beer Can, which costs $12. You don't want to give him the Beer Can until you're ready to fight the Spider Crab! We recommend upgrading the knife at least two times on the Anvil. The first upgrade costs $12, and the second one costs $28.
When you're ready, hand the full beer can to the man, and he'll give you an empty beer can! You can use it as bait on your rod to fish out the Spider Crab and attempt to challenge it.
Unlike the other fish in How to Fish, the Spider Crab comes with a health bar. You'll need to use your weapons to take it down. Getting too close to it is not a good idea, but you can wait until it's partially stunned to get close and perform a handful of attacks against it. The stun doesn't last long, though.
After you defeat the Spider Crab, the man gives you his boat keys, and you can finally leave the first island!
Before you get into the boat, make sure you purchase the radar that you can find next to the man on the bench. The radar costs $10, and it'll be what you use to go between the various islands in How to Fish. Without a radar, there's no way to know if you're on the correct path.
When you're in the boat, take out the radar, and you'll see a blip on it that takes you away from the first island. The blip should look dark green, whereas the first island you're on should have a white dot for it. You'll want one person to drive the boat, and the other to hold the radar and provide directions.
You'll know you're getting closer to the second island when you see a small area with a tree line on the horizon.
You can continue on this watery path until you reach the island (parking your boat anywhere you'd like). You'll then want to speak with the woman on the island to learn how you can find the third one after you complete her quest.

### Island 2 Guide: How to Unlock the Third Island

For the Third Island, you need to speak with the woman who is in this next area. She's on the right side, and by speaking with her, you'll learn she wants to cook up a really nice meal for her father. She needs your help in catching a particularly large fish. However, she does say that she needs a gun to defeat this fish, indicating you, too, will need to use a gun to beat it.
If you want to have a chance to catch this fish, like the Spider Crab, you'll need her help to get the bait. You need to collect at least three leeches off the island to get this bait, and attach it to your fishing rod to reel it out of the water.
Similar to the first island, you want to work your way through the second island, catching the many fish that you can encounter here. At the center of this island is a board with the items you can purchase, with the big tools you want to grab being the Pistol and the Shotgun. The Shotgun is the most expensive weapon available for $150. You can also upgrade both weapons at the ammunition crates.
We recommend unlocking these weapon upgrades until they reach the maximum amount for this island before handing in your five leeches to the woman and challenging the island boss. She'll give you the Leech Bait when you're ready to challenge the Giant Piranha.
Upon defeating the Giant Piranha, give the woman the Giant Piranha skeleton, and you'll receive coordinates for the next island. It should be added to your radar, and you can make your way to that location. The third island will be an orange dot on your radar.
If you've lost your radar since you last used your boat, head over to the board with the various items, and you can buy another one leaning on the board for $10.
You'll know you've arrived at the third island when you see palm trees in the distance.

### Island 3 Guide: How to Unlock the Fourth Island

When you arrive to the third island, there are three NPCs that you can speak with here. However, the one that you want to focus on is the stranded person who is on vacation. You can find them on the far side of the island, leaning against the tree wearing an orange life preserver vest with a hat on their head.
Speak with them, and you'll discover that they want to prove that they had a good time on their vacation, rather than only being stranded. You can do that by catching an important fish for them. To get the bait for this fish, you'll need to catch an endangered fish to receive that bait. Unfortunately, they don't tell you what type of endangered fish you need to catch.
For us, we were able to receive the notable bait from this character by turning in a Needlefish. After we caught it, we received an Endangered Fish bonus for catching it.
When we handed it to them, they accepted the Needlefish and gave us the Carrot Bait. You can use this to fight against the upcoming boss, a Pufferfish.
However, like the previous regions, we recommend visiting the sale stand and upgrading your weapons as many times as you can. This includes the attachments you can give your weapons to give them the best upgrades.
When you're ready, attach your Carrot bait to your Fishing Rod, and use it to bring in the Pufferfish boss!
You can place a large pile of it at the center of the island, and shoot it to set it off, dealing a great deal of damage to the Pufferfish, making this encounter much easier.
Once you've done that, return to the stranded Tourist to give them a small piece of the Pufferfish , and they'll provide you with the coordinates to Island 4. It is the Red Dot on the radar.
You'll know you're getting close to the fourth island when you see an island with multiple buildings. One of them is fairly tall and sticks out above the rest of them.

### Island 4 Guide: How to Unlock the Fifth Island

For the fifth and final island in How to Fish, you'll need to work your way through the creatures that you can catch on the fourth island. Here, your goal is to eventually have enough money to purchase the Professional Boss Lure , which costs $1,200 at the bait shop.
To help make this money, the best way to do this is to focus on buying the Professional Lure for $50. After you've done that, make sure to grill and cook any fish you catch before turning them in to the vendor. This way, you'll earn the highest amount available for every catch.
You'll also want to visit the Gun Merchant , who is in a different shop next to the casino. There, you'll find various upgrades that you can add to your weapons, along with a Sniper Rifle .
These upgrades should make the upcoming encounters much easier. We do recommend getting as many bullet upgrades as you can with the Sniper Rifle before buying the Professional Boss Lure.
The Professional Boss Lure puts you face-to-face with the Tuna , a mini-boss that you can reel in and have to defeat first before you fight the fourth boss: the Albatross.
The Albatross is a large bird that leaves to eat Tuna. You need to catch and defeat the Tuna, then place it in the center of the island when you're ready. The Albatross will spawn into your game, and you'll have to take it down. The Albatross remains in the air, performing circles around the island, swooping down to bash into you. It also fires down at you, meaning you'll need to dip inside the vendor shed to protect yourself. Because the Albatross is in the air and remains far away, the Sniper Rifle is the best way to use against it.
After defeating the Albatross, collect its head and bring it to the NPC hiding inside the Vendor hut. They'll give you the coordinates for the fifth and final island. While holding your radar, it should appear as a pink dot.
You know you're getting close when you see the Volcano in the distance on an island.
You'll have unlocked and reached all five islands when you reach this area! You can work on completing the rest of your fish index by attempting to catch the final ones, and wrap up your time playing How to Fish with your friends!

## Island 5 Guide

When you reach Island 5, the Volcano Island, your goal is to help the scientific team that's been stranded there. You'll need to speak with the head scientist, who needs your help catching a big whale. What you need to do is catch and delivery five fish to them. These can be any fish, using any of the lures you've picked up along the way.
On the island, you have the military merchant next to the scientist. You can pick up every type of lure you've encountered throughout your playthrough of How to Fish, along with the Scientific Lure and the Professional Scientific Lure. There's also a casino table in the back if you want to attempt to double your earnings from any fish you catch on the island.
You can submit any five fish to the Head Scientist at any time, but we encourage you to focus on upgrading your weapons (and the new Assault Rifle you can buy) before doing so. All of the weapon upgrades are the same, but you do get an additional damage threshold for your ranged and melee weapons .
When you give your five fish to the Scientist, they give you a Fish Bucket bait that you can use to lure and catch the next boss: a Bowhead Whale. When you reel in the Whale, it will splash around and attempt to crash down on you on this small island.
After you defeat the Bowhead Whale, take its body to the top of the mountain and throw it into the lava. It transforms into the Mutated Bowhead Whale and gives you another boss fight to complete before you get the final set of keys from the head scientist, and the chance to return to the mainland.
