To go fishing, players need to obtain the Old Rod first, either from finding it in a chest, trading with the tool trader or from a Fishing Cabinet , a common structure found in the Forest. You can fish in any pond at any time by simply clicking on the pond with your fishing rod equipped and waiting for a bite. Some ponds may have white, transparent, ripples on them, which indicate a "fast" fishing spot. Casting your rod into this spot will result in a almost instant bite on your rod. After about 6 catches, the ripples will disappear. If you fish in a pond without a fast-fishing spot, it will take up to 15 seconds before you get a bite. An algal pond, a bone pond, or a cold pond will often not have any ripples in it for a "fast" fishing spot but can still be fished. You can also fish up scrap Once you get a bite and a fish is on the line, the fishing mini-game will start. When in the mini-game, you will have to click LMB (left mouse button/button 1) or LT (left trigger) when the red bar/line is over the green rectangle. This will cause the fishing progress bar beside that to fill up, and when filled, a fish will be pulled out of the water and will land behind you. Clicking the LMB (left mouse button/button 1) or LT (left trigger) at the wrong time will cause the progress bar to lose progress and if the progress bar hits at the bottom the minigame stops and you need to try again. The rarer the fish, the more difficult the mini game. To cook fish, simply drag it onto the Campfire , like any other cookable item. There is no way to create fillets or sushi yet. Rods have a unique XP bar. In order to increase XP, players must successfully obtain items from fishing. The more difficult an item is to obtain, the more XP it gives. Once the XP bar is full, the game will indicate that the player can upgrade their rod at the Skills Building. At the Skills Building, the player needs to be holding their rod and interact with the rod crafting table inside. The old rod is upgraded to the good rod, then the strong rod. The better the rod, the easier it is to catch better fish. The water has a light blue color, and it is one of the smallest ponds. It contains Mackerel, Salmon, Clownfish and Swordfish. ### Algal Pond Algal Ponds can be found in level 4-5 of the Campfire . The water has a green color and it appears to be saltwater. It contains Salmon, Clownfish, Jellyfish, Swordfish and Shark. ### Bone Pond Bone Ponds can only be found in level 6 Campfire . The water has a dark blue color, and it is one of the largest ponds in the game. It contains Swordfish, Jellyfish, and Sharks. ### Cold Pond Cold Ponds can be found in the Cold Cabin, where 2 fish variants live there, it contains Char and Eel. ### Frog Pond You can fish in the purple waters of the Frog Cave . It contains Mackerel, Salmon, poison gear and the Frog Boots. It can be accessed after the boss fight through the whirlpool when the frogs emerge. ### Lava Pond Lava Ponds can be found in the volcanic biome, after reaching level 2-3 of the Campfire . Even so, it has no purpose. - All the fish have real-life variants, except for the Lava Eel. - The Jellyfish is the only meat food that can be eaten raw and provide a speed boost without doing damage to the player. - If a player types "yay fishing" in the chat, 2-3 Diamonds will fall from the sky. (Be sure to do it while having any rod in hand and be in the fishing minigame) This only works once. - All fish can be put into the crock pot. - You can drop your current fishing rod (as long as it's not a level 1 Old Rod ) and take a new one. - The Shark might be based on a Bull Shark due to it being found in ponds (Most shark species are only found in saltwater environments, and Bull sharks are sharks that can survive in both freshwater and saltwater environments , this means that this shark might be a bull shark).
