# How to Fish How to Earn Cash Without Eating Trophies

Feed the local NPC. Do not sell the Shell, Skeleton, Fin, or Head.
How to Fish has no redeemable money codes, no daily login chest, and no official coin-per-hour spreadsheet. Cash is whatever the local NPC will eat. On Island 1 that is the Lighthouse Keeper. Later islands pay more per kill because the lure tier is higher, not because a weather event spawned a mythic. This page is a sell-and-spend route through Patch 1.0.10.

## Island 1 — do not stall

Clams are the first dollars ( $3 each). Buy the Crab Fishing Rod ( $3), then Ham / Hot Dog crabs and lobster. Feed them. Buy melee (knuckles ~$24 or knife $45) before Spider Crab, then Beer ( $12) for the Empty Beer Can. Radar is $10 after the Shell hand-in. Sitting on the lighthouse for hours to “print coins” delays Forest shops that actually matter: shotgun, dynamite, Beginner Lure, $230 engine.
Trick shots exist and they are funny. They are not required to leave the rock and they are not a documented 3× sell multiplier table. Treat bounce casts as optional comedy, not an economy.

## What you must not sell

- Spider Crab Shell — Boat Keys
- Giant Piranha Skeleton — Island 3
- Pufferfish trophy / Fin remnant — Island 4
- Albatross head — Volcano route
- Whale Fin — military keys and credits
- Carrot, Empty Beer Can, Modified Leech, Fish Bucket, Tuna body — baits, not food
Patch 1.0.10 saves up to 64 ground items (weapons, tools, quest pieces, creatures first). Still put trophies in inventory. A Reel of Fortune wants Drip corpses, not story pieces. Gambling cabinets want cash or fish you can afford to lose — see Gambling .

## Mid route — Forest through Rocks

Island 2’s everyday pool (French Fry / Beginner Lure) plus optional Sunfish and Old Pike on Beginner Boss Lure is the first real payday. Buy a gun before Giant Piranha. Dynamite (~$25) is an achievement toy, not a money printer, unless you are blasting cook piles later.
Island 3 Standard Lure fish plus Blue Shark (grill) fund SMG-tier guns. Island 4 Professional Lure and Tuna (Professional Boss Lure, about $1,200) are expensive setups; do not drop the Tuna into roulette. Island 5 Scientific Lure ( $500) and Scientific Boss Lure ( $5,800) are late sinks. The Assault Rifle with attachments is combat budget, not a flex purchase you skip on Hard mode.

## Drip, skins, and “rare variants”

Rainbow Drip kills feed Fishipedia and the Reel of Fortune . They are valuable, but the bigger use is cosmetics and encyclopedia credit. Do not assume a 5–10× sell formula from an unofficial rarity chart. Collector is the non-Drip book and is a different grind.

## Co-op and difficulty

More rods mean more feed. More players also mean more chances to sell the same trophy. Call shells and fins. Easy mode (Patch 1.0.9) shortens fights so you spend less ammo; it does not raise sell prices. Hard mode does the opposite. Lobbies go to eight after 1.0.4.
- Fish Prices — confirmed sell values and multipliers
- Getting Started — first shop loop
- Fish Locations — what each lure actually catches
- Skins — where spare Drip should go
- Updates Hub — 1.0.10 ground saves

## Frequently Asked Questions

Direct answers to the questions players ask most about the game.
Leave Island 1 once you have keys and Radar, then sell later-island pools. Keep quest trophies. Trick shots and gambling are optional, not a documented printer.
Only with spare cash. Roulette can wipe a bankroll. Story baits and trophies never go in the machine.
Plan for the Island 4 engine (~$860), Professional Boss Lure (~$1,200), Scientific Lure (~$500), and Scientific Boss Lure (~$5,800), plus an Assault Rifle kit.
No official redeemable codes. Cosmetics come from Drip and the Reel of Fortune, not a code list.
